Sick Days with Jacob James

I've been sick since last Tuesday with a cold. It's the worst I have the sniffles, and the sneezes, and the chills. Hopefully I'll feel better soon! Check out my super cool Choo Choo Bob t-shirt and engineer hat I look good right...

And even in my sickened state I still rally for some serious playtime (see below).

Ry's 20th Birthday

Uncle Ryan turned 20 years old today... I know really old right?! Whoa, I can't even imagine being that old! We went out to eat and the restaurant had basketball on the big television so life was good. I also tried deep fried pickles and I gotta say, "Yummy!" Plus there was cake so I was happy, happy, happy! Thanks for having a birthday Ry sorry you're so old dude!

Story Time with Vic

My Vic-Vic came down for a visit with her puppy Sierra. It was nice to see both of them and I enjoyed hearing her read all of my favorite books. She even read Fox & Sox and did a great job! She is a lot of fun and makes my Mama laugh really hard so it's always a good time when we get together!

First Haircut & Sleepover

After my doctor's appointment we picked up Grandma 2 and went to the Cities to meet Grandpa, NCB and Aunt Briana for an overnight. We had a lot of fun and made some pretty cool memories. I got my first haircut and went to a train store called Choo Choo Bob's. At the train store we met Engineer Paul and he sang songs, played the guitar, and read stories about trains it was awesome and I definitely want to go back. We also played a ton at Grandpa's, ate yummy food, and just had a great time.

This is Annie, she gave me my first haircut while I clutched little Clifford. It was kind of scary and a bit weird but over really quickly so I guess it was okay.

And this is Choo Choo Bob's, Engineer Paul, and me having fun at Grandpa's house.

18-Month Doctor Appointment

This morning I had my 18th month doctor appointment when we got to the doctor's office I started to cry, hard, with tears because I remembered all the pain I've experienced there before. I cried all the way through the nurses talk with my parents, the weighing in, measuring, and taking of my temperature. But then Dr. Mankoti came in and well it's hard to be mad at her because she is super nice, gives me a book each time I come in, and compliments me a lot so I stopped crying and started showing off. Then after Dr. Mankodi left the nurse came back in and I started crying again. After the two shots she gave me I found out that those were the last shots until I am five years old. YAY!! I will still have a flu shot yearly but no deep mussel shots for almost four years I am thrilled! Also, the nurse let me hold a pen and Mama brought a treat for me Fruit Loops so that was good. I now weigh 25 pounds (40th%) and am 34 inches tall (90th%).

We're going to Grandpa's tonight and I can't wait!

18 Months Old

I am "sooo big" and can do all sorts of things now. I can run, climb, kick and throw a ball, read books (even ones with real pages!), pull toys and my wagon around, feed myself with a spoon and fork, drink from a cup (sort of), complete shape sorter, simple puzzles, and stacker games. I also enjoy scribbling with a crayon, giving my family lots of hugs and kisses, exploring everything, talking nonstop, mimicking Mama & Papa, and helping out around the house by cleaning and picking up my toys. I know all of my body parts and like to point to them when asked and my favorite new word is "no" I like to say it with a sly smile while shaking my head. I still don't know what to think of strangers so I stay close by the people I do know. I can follow directions really good and enjoy being around my family and friends. A few of my favorite things are story time, Eddie (even though I think he has actually tried to sell me on eBay), tractors, walking around any mall or big store, and learning new things.
Yep, 1 1/2 is marvelous!

Hello Big Bathtub

Tonight was my first big boy bath in the tub without my little bathtub. It was wonderful because I could play with more and bigger toys, scoot from one end to the other, put toys on the ledges of the tub, splash better and harder, and even play with a moving submarine. I was having so much fun I stayed in for 35 minutes and was all pruned when I got out which I thought was really funny.

I Got the Music In Me

Mama: It is always a real pleasure being able to see the world through Jake’s eyes but it gets even better when you witness his excitement at seeing something that he enjoys for the first time. Tonight he experienced live music for the first time. He said things like “Wow” and “YAY," clapped, danced, and became so mesmerized by the sight of the two men playing guitars and singing that it brought a smile to everyone’s faces. It was as if you could see that to him music he only listened to before had now come alive and it was awesome. He was like this when he saw an airplane for the first time in Oklahoma, when he went to the Minnesota Zoo and saw the animals for the first time, and when he saw a tractor at the Farming of Yesteryear for the first time. There is definitely something to be said for just reading about life and then getting out and experiencing it… it was as they say, "Priceless". I tell you our life with Jake just keeps getting better and better!

Light Reading

"You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation." Indeed Plato, indeed... what, you didn't think I had a philosophical side?
