Uncle Ryan is staying with us this week here we are hanging out on the couch together. Guess what, Ryan can take a piece of paper and make animals out of it isn't that terrific - Mama called it origami. I think it's magic! Here are a few cranes he made the little one is from the chocolate mint at Olive Garden - it's super tiny like me! :)

Rocking Chair & Car Rides
So my colic is getting better every day but when things get tough my parents get me moving and it helps. Here I am with Papa & Eddie in my rocking chair and then later after my bath we went for a car ride. Now I am... well sleeping like a baby!
A big thanks to everyone for all the calls and emails - it's great that I have so many people who love and care about me!

A Great Day!
Today was terrific - I got to cuddle and sleep on my Mama during the day (pictured above), then had a bath, and tonight I got to hang out with just my Papa and Eddie! (Mama went out with Grandma and Grandma 2 for awhile because Papa said she needed a break. A break from what - I don't know?) We went to a restaurant and then took Eddie for a walk. I am trying to wave in the picture above - it's a little blurry because he was pushing me, holding on to Eddie's leash and trying to take the picture with his Blackberry - he can do anything, I love my Papa!
PS. The colic is getting better each day... Yay!

A Classic Car Show & Colic
Click any picture to enlarge |
First the good news, I got to go to a classic car show in Wells, MN on Saturday where Rod and Richie & Sandy showed off their cars. Rod has the 1971 Camaro SS (above left) and Richie & Sandy have the 1964 Pontiac GTO (above right). There were 118 cars at the show and both of them won awards - isn't that cool!? Maybe someday Rod will let me drive his car but for now I had Mama pull up my "car" next to his! :)
Now for the bad news, I have colic (which is described as severe, often fluctuating pain in the abdomen caused by intestinal gas or obstruction in the intestines and suffered esp. by babies) and it stinks. Hopefully, I'll feel better soon but for now gas drops, swaddling, rocking me on my side, white noise, and car rides seem to help. We are taking any other suggestions if anybody has any ideas...

Funny Face
If Fred Astaire were at my house today here is how the conversation would have went...
Fred: "Jacob, I'm going to have you arrested!"
Jake: "Why?"
Fred: "Because you stole my moves!" :)
Oh and this is one of my favorite t-shirts that is almost too small now - but it is from the New Yorker and it has a bunch of babies in bassinets at the hospital and one baby is holding up a blackberry and he typed, "OMG I just got born!"

My One Month Doctor Visit
It's terrible how they treat babies around here - I don't know what this nurse was trying to do to me! Papa told me that she was just measuring my height but I don't know it seemed like some medieval torture device designed to stretch me out or something - very weird, I didn't like it as you can see!
Anyway, we found out that I am doing really well (despite Nurse Ratched!) I have grown in both weight and height and now I am at the 55th percentile for my age. I currently weigh 10lbs, 6oz. and am 21.8 inches long. Mama and Papa were really surprised and then a little scared because they wondered how I could have gained 2 1/2 pounds in one month. My doctor told them that I am doing great and to keep up the good work. I think she is a smart doctor and I like her (mostly because she said that I could keep drinking as much milk as I wanted!) but she also said that babies gain 2-3 pounds per month and that I was normal for my age. I tried telling Mama that I am just a good eater and not to worry but she said that all mama's worry.
So "That's the news from Lake Wobegon, where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average." Sorry, my 55th percentile statistic made me think of Garrison Keillor!

Happy One-Month Day!
Click any picture to enlarge |
Hi Everybody: I am one-month-old today! Time is flying by and I can already do so many new things. I eat every three hours now pretty consistently and I am getting really good at knowing that I should be more awake during the day and sleep at night. I still get up during the night for feedings but then I usually go right back to sleep after they are finished and my pants are changed, (for that my Mama is very grateful!) I can recognize my parents voices and faces, follow objects for a brief amount of time, raise my head when I am on my belly for a short time, listen closely while people are talking, and turn my head toward the direction of sounds. I am stronger and bigger too (we are not sure how much bigger because I don’t see my pediatrician until Thursday – so stay tuned for that information). I enjoy music and movement - going for walks, car rides, my swing, vibrating chair, rocking chair, dancing with Mama & Papa etc. basically for a little guy I am a mover and a shaker!
I had a really fun day today and lots of people made it very special. My Grandpa and Nana Care Bear came down just to see me! We then had lunch with my Great Grandma Viv & Great Grandpa Bob and Grandma 2.
After that my Grandma brought over a Happy One-Month birthday cake and then we all went out to the County Fair again. It was such a great day and I am very lucky to have so many people who love me.
Thanks Everyone!

Fun at the Mower County Fair
I visited with Uncle Ryan, had a drink at the Beer Garden, ate some food, played Bingo (and won!), and rode some rides!!
Okay okay let me clarify, I drank a bottle of milk at the Beer Garden, my parents, Grandma and Grandma 2 ate the food, Mama Bingo'ed (but it was probably because she had her lucky charm along!), and that's Papa's picture from last year's Fair... it sounds so boring when you clarify.

Somebody Stole My Mittens!
Somebody stole my mittens - the nice nurses at the hospital told my parents that I should wear little mittens to protect myself from scratches until about four weeks old and then they could cut my nails. So last night Mama thought it was time so she gave me a manicure while I was sleeping. Now I don't need my mittens which is good timing because last night somebody stole them!
Here I am in my bouncy chair, it vibrates which is really cool - I love chilling in this chair and watching my parents make dinner, play cribbage, or even just hang out and talk at the kitchen table. Good Times! :)

A Sunday Stroll
My little family went out for a Sunday stroll today - we go out pretty often because my puppy dog Eddie loves to go for walks and today was a great day for a walk. Not too hot and not too buggy - perfect weather for a Sunday stroll. We always meet lots of people along the way - Eddie calls them his "adoring fans." There are little kids out playing that stop and say hello when we pass, old women out watering their flowers that come over to see me and Eddie, and today I met a butterfly for a brief moment.
We also watched the Twins game today...but I won't talk about how that went. Next week is the Mower County Fair - I can't wait! :)

Splish Splash I Was Taking a Bath
Splish splash, I was takin' a bath. Long about a Wednesday night. A rub-a-dub, just relaxin' in the tub. Thinkin' everything was alright...
Guess what, I love bath night now! When my umbilical cord was still attached we had to do sponge baths and I didn't like those at all. But now that I am three weeks old and get to be in my super cool bathtub I love bath night - as you can see from the before and after pictures.

A Day in the Life
So my life right now is pretty much about eating, burping (which I am awesome at!), pooping, and visiting. I am a social butterfly and like to see people. This weekend my parents, Eddie and I hung out and watched the Twins baseball game on Friday, went to visit Grandma 2 on Saturday, and then on Sunday I visited with Vickie, Kayla, Kathy (pictured below), Rod, Nick, Grandma, and Grandma 2 - it was a great weekend!
