Party at Grandpa's!
It was a party at Grandpa's! My Grandpa, NCB, Aunt Briana, Grandma 2, Papa, and Mama were all there. We had a lovely time visiting and everyone said I was such a good boy. Grandpa also said that Mama was swaddling me too tight so he kept freeing me - I thought that was funny. I love my Grandpa!
The adults shared in a celebratory glass of wine too. They were toasting me of course, (even though I didn't get to have any Bordeaux I did get to have my milk!) and guess what... that wine that they drank was a lot older than I am - weird huh?!

Errands and Great Grandparents
Got out of the house today and ran some errands we went to Hy-Vee and got groceries, went to Wal-Mart for diapers, Post Office, Bank, blah-blah blah... but the real highlight of my day was seeing Great Grandma Viv and Great Grandpa Bob. J

Ch-Ch-Changes
My Mama has been explaining the seasons in Minnesota to me. Do you guys know that we have four seasons and it's not warm and sunny year round here? Hard to believe huh! She says that fall is her favorite because of the beautiful colors. And the peak time to see those colors around here is mid-October. Mama said that we will make a trip to the Arboretum in Minneapolis at that time to check it out. I can't wait - I love pretty colors and a good road trip so win-win for me!
Another fun thing about fall is that I got a whole new wardrobe - today was only 65 degrees so here I am in a sweatshirt and sweat pants. I have little jeans too!

Jake's Favorite "Chair" in the House
Okay I realize it’s not a conventional chair but it is comfortable and one of my favorite places to sit, therefore my Papa’s lap is my favorite chair in the house.
Look closely in the first picture you can see my puppy dog Eddie on the little couch - he likes me more and more these days! :)

I Got Shot!
I'm going to continue to be horrified by that all day but I am sure you want to know the positives so here they are - I am doing really well and the doctor said that I am very strong for my age. She wanted to see me do tummy time and when I did she said that I was doing much better than babies my age. I now weigh 11 lbs. 15 oz. which puts me in the 49th percentile for weight and my height is 23.3 inches which puts me in the 57th percentile. J

Happy Two-Month Day!
At two months I am:
- Smiling spontaneously
- Following objects better (especially my black and white zebra rattle)
- Turning my head towards sounds
- Holding my head up better than before for longer periods of time
- Sleeping up to five hours at night
- Starting to coo and gurgle responsively
Plus, as you can see from the pictures I am bigger too - stay tuned for how much bigger (I have my two-month doctor appointment on Thursday)....

My Baptism
I have a couple of new things to announce - Saturday night I slept 5 1/2 hours straight for the first time (I know good for me right!) but then I woke up at 2:30 Sunday morning and thought I should be awake. I also thought Mama should be awake too so we stayed up until 5:30am she was really sleepy but I persuaded her to stay up with me. Did you guys know that I can be pretty persuasive when I want to be?!
Then I could only sleep until 7am when she had to wake me up because we were going to Queen of Angels Church so that I could be baptized. Yup, I've now been baptized Catholic - cool huh! Here I am waking up at 7am, Mama had swaddled me like a baby burrito when she put me down and this is how she found me. I don't know how I covered my head with the blanket or got a foot out but there I am...
The baptism went really well Mama said that I was a perfect angel and didn't cry at all (I'm not sure why she sounded surprised when she said that though?!) Anyhow I was cleansed with water and blessed with oil, Sean & Vickie are my Godparents, and a lot of people came to celebrate with me. After I was baptized, Father Tupper told my parents to take me down the aisle and let the congregation bless me and say hello. Papa said that I was like a little politician - looking at the individuals as if to say, "Hello, hi, thanks for coming, nice to see you, hey how's it going!" :) Father Tupper also told Mama & Papa that I chose them to be my parents which is a neat thought. The party at our house afterwards was fun too because I loved all the attention and being held by everyone! Here I am in my special white baptism outfit - remember you can click on any picture to enlarge.

Lean, Mean, Jake Machine
I am a lean, mean, Jake machine - look at my big gun not bad for a seven week old baby huh?! I pump iron in my spare time - well not so much iron as a rattle but it's a very heavy rattle! And I don't really lift it right now I just look at it... but believe me it's an intense stare!!!

Generations
I took my ladies out to lunch at the Old Mill and my Mama told me that this group represented four generations of our family - isn't that cool!

Labor Day & Family
I had such a fantastic Labor Day weekend because I was able to spend it with family. I met my Grandpa John & Elyse from New Mexico for the first time, my Papa's cousin Christie, her husband Charles, and their kids Zoe & Kya (my second cousins) from Kansas also for the first time, and then saw Grandma, Grandma 2 and my Vic Vic as well - I love my big family!!

My First Real Smile!
Mama & Papa have been wondering for a while now if I am smiling for "real" or is it just gas and they decided that if they can't make me keep doing it multiple times than it's probably just gas. (Either way they love to see me smile!) Then today after my bath I was getting snuggled up in my towel and I kept smiling at them. My mama ran and grabbed the camera so I hammed it up! (I thought they needed some encouragement with the colic and all.)

Tummy Time
I have been practicing some tummy time for a while now lifting my head up off of my parent's chest but today they thought it was time to try it out on the floor. I liked it... until I found my knuckle sandwich. :)
