Official Bank Business

I had official bank business and needed to see the Vice President today... so imagine my surprise when my Vic-Vic came out! I was really excited to see her and got to hang out on her lap at her desk helping her work for about an hour or so. I have not sat that still for a very long time. While I was helping her work I made a few transfers to a bank in Austin... hopefully nobody will notice! I had a lot of fun "playing" with her computer mouse.

Then after our work was done we all went out for lunch and I had my first kid's meal - a grilled cheese sandwich with fries and an apple juice. I don't care for french fries but liked the grilled cheese (well I liked the cheese, the bread was just okay) but the real highlight was the apple juice, Yummy! I wish I could have official bank business everyday.

Spaghetti, Eddie?

Tonight I had spaghetti for the first time and it was terrific! (I know what you're thinking, is there anything that you don't like Jake?) Hmm not really. I like fruits, veggies, proteins, grains, dairy... and Oreos!! My supper was so good but it was messy I accidentally dropped some on the floor and Eddie got to it. I thought that was really funny so I "accidentally" dropped some more. But not a lot, you don't want to waste good food. Anyway, Eddie was my best friend for the rest of the evening.

Thank Heaven For Little Boys

Lately I have been a little lets just say, "Independent." I have wanted to open every drawer, take out everything inside and throw it around the room, feed myself and refuse to eat when other people try to feed me, I receive a new boo-boo almost every day (see the two new bruises on my forehead), turn every diaper change/clothing session into a sumo wrestling match, scream at Eddie when he's peacefully asleep on the couch, test my parents at every turn - well you get the picture but despite all of this they think that I am the best little boy in the whole wide world! The trick is to always give them lots of hugs and smiles... and it doesn't hurt that I am super cute too!

Cheesy & Yumtastic

I was eating my supper tonight (oyster crackers, turkey, cheese and blueberries) when all of a sudden my Mama starting laughing and called for my Papa and then he started laughing. I got the sneaky suspicion that they were laughing at me? So I said, "What? Do I have something on my face? Cheese I mean Please, just tell me." See I knew the piece of cheese was there, I was just saving it for later!

Then after supper I had an Oreo cookie for the first time - it was Beyond Good so good that I need a new word for how good it actually was - how about Yumtastic?! Okay well, it's a work in progress but you get the picture I liked it. Anyway I started smiling (yes, with all the black stuff in my five teeth) and then rubbing my hands together. Mama said that I looked like an evil Oreo genius. Is that a thing? I don't think so?

I Took My First Steps!!

Today Grandma, Papa, Mama and I were in the living room and my Papa was holding on to me and I was trying to walk away from him so he held on for a few steps and then let go... and I walked for two steps on my own! After my two steps I sat down and started clapping and cheering along with every one else. Then I practiced walking from my Mama to my Grandma and then from my Papa to my Mama - my longest stretch was four steps without assistance. I was extremely proud of myself and yet still don't know quite how I accomplished this terrific feat.

Grandma 2's Birthday Bash

It was Grandma 2's 79th birthday today so we had a big birthday bash with decorations, cards, gifts, a special dinner and dessert. She said that she had a terrific time and it was actually one of the best birthdays that she has ever had... she's super sweet. I sure do love my Grandma 2!

Judy Came To Visit Me

Judy (Papa's stepsister) came to see me today all the way from Oklahoma. I really liked playing with and getting to know her - hopefully we'll get to see her again real soon! She had this super cool book that had a boy named Bennitt in it I especially liked looking at that book. Bennitt, her grandson is one year older than me so it was fascinating to see what life looks like at two years old!!

Papa's 1st Father's Day

I love you Papa and am so glad that you had a terrific 1st Father's Day!

We relaxed around the house, Grandpa, NCB, Great Grandpa Bob, Great Grandma, and Grandma 2 came over to celebrate. We had terrific food (myself included!), fantastic company and lots of laughs and good times. It was a great day - here I am with all the Father's. J

The Table Food Implementation

My parents have decided that because I want to feed myself a lot now it's finally time to start feeding me what they eat (YAY!) so today I had some sweet potato fries with lunch and a tortilla with dinner - both were good but I flipped over the tortilla. It was super yummy, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings (for an early Father's Day celebration) and I had the best time watching sports on the big television and eating my tortilla! I had to even yell at the kid next to me, "Hey Kid, get yourself some tortillas they're awesome!"

Tomorrow morning Mama is making homemade waffles and I can't wait to give them a try.

Happy Birthday Aunt Briana!

I colored for the first time today when Mama and I made my Aunt Briana a birthday sign. I had a lot of fun coloring on the sign and then was so proud of my work that I wanted to carry it around everywhere. I hope that you are having as good of a time today Brie!!

PS. I was even wearing my "I Love My Auntie" shirt!

Happy Eleven-Month Day!

At eleven months, I don't sit still in fact it was really difficult to get this picture because I wanted to be on-the-go! I am babbling a ton (as usual), I'm really good at both crawling and standing now, I am even cruising along using the furniture to walk, and can get from a standing position to a sitting position and then back up to stand. I enjoy putting things into containers (Tupperware is awesome!), I am pointing and grunting at stuff I want or that is new or even out of place around the house. Mama and I like to roll a ball back and forth. I love to dance and want the music on a lot! I know that my name is Jake and pat my chest when you ask, "Where's Jake?", and I like to make faces in the mirror in the hallway while confirming that is my reflection. I guess with the addition of all these new things came the idea of free will so I am testing limits and expressing frustration when I don't get to do what I want - for example refusing to eat certain foods (well refusing at first - my parents always win the power struggles... for now). I started sleeping with a stuffed animal, Jake the Monkey, and speaking of monkeys if you ask me what a monkey says I can tell you now! I still really enjoy our nighty walks with Eddie because Papa and Mama point out things along the way to teach me things and I love the fresh air. I am imitating more and more which I am told is really cute - yep, at eleven months my life is fantastic!

My Little Table

Guess what: I was surprised today with a little table. It's just my size and has all kinds of cool things to do and play with on the top. At first I was so happy but a little unsure so I kept looking at my Papa to make sure that I could play with it. (There is a lot that I cannot play with these days... my parent's pottery, glass, kaleidoscopes, Eddie's water dish, the toilet, plug-ins, the hallway mirror, Papa's cameras, anything under the kitchen sink but I digress!) Anyway, I was so excited after realizing that it was mine that I giggled all morning and then again in the afternoon and even into the evening.

Also, it's my Vic-Vic's birthday so a special "Happy Birthday" to her - we're going to get to see Vic (and Kayla too!) next weekend I am super stoked!!

Super Sunday

I love talking with my Uncle Ryan he just gets me - you know like connecting on a deeper level gets me (plus he's a little crazy and I like that!). Anyway, he came over for waffles today (along with Grandma and Grandma 2) and ending up spending the afternoon here it was a lot of fun.

Local Cuisine

I told my Mama that I was hungry and she put down a can of Spam, when I asked her what it was she simply said, "The local cuisine." But after reading the ingredients I decided that I was good with my nuk and actually wasn't all that hungry. She was teasing me though because it's a spam bank so there were quarters in there... not meat jello.

My shirt says, "I'm One of the Good Guys" (which I am by the way) but the really cool part is that it glows in the dark. Yep, nap time was extra special today or should I say the lack of nap time.

Eddie and I were going to go for a walk (by ourselves) but then we couldn't figure out how to open the front door so we took our parents too. Sometimes it's a bummer being little, huh Eddie.

He Shoots, He Scores

I got this extremely nifty basketball, baseball, football sports center from Grandpa and NCB at Christmas time but I am just now able to really appreciate it. I am having a terrific time putting the basketball in the hoop while standing next to it. Mama says that I hang on the rim and apparently that is frowned upon but I love dunking so what can I say!

Also, today I had some excitement we were talking with our neighbor, Carol and I was sitting on their grass next to Mama when all of sudden she noticed that I was playing with something in my hand. Mama thought that it was just a crumpled dandelion but it was actually a live bee. She quickly became aware of this fact when I was petting it and got it out of my hand immediately. They don't know how it didn't sting me (I must be some kind of bee-charmer!) I did however cry when she took away my pet bee!

Batter Up

My parents got me this sweet bat when they went to the Rockies game in Denver. It is an actual Louisville Slugger and it's the perfect size. I am a little crazy with it - well crazy in love, I want to bring it everywhere. Seriously epic gift peeps!

PS. In other Jake news, I had my first top tooth poke through today.
